College Football Pick'em Pools

A college football pick'em pool can be scoped to make selections across the whole FBS, specific conferences, or Top 25 games only. Pools can be configured to make a set number of picks each week, an entire conference's games, or any combination of FBS games that you can dream up. ALA's software can automatically handle eligible games for you, or optionally let a Pool Commissioner hand-pick the slate each week.

Pools can be formatted to pick straight-up winners, make picks against the spread and/or game totals, or a combination of those options.

There are no eliminations in pick'em pools, so the pool holds a full field up through Conference Championship week (if you'd like to include it). No money is needed to play, and for groups that want it, tiered buy-ins with sidepots and weekly prizes can both be tracked.

How to set up a CFB Pick'em pool

  1. Scope the weekly slateAll FBS games, specific conferences, or Top 25 matchups only. Top 25 keeps the weekly pick count manageable and focuses the pool on the most high-profile games.
  2. Pick your scoring modeStraight-up winners, against the spread, or totals. Given how wide college lines run, ATS is where this format gets interesting.
  3. Set how many games get pickedEvery game in the scoped slate, or a fixed number each week. A fixed count works well when the slate size swings between September and November.
  4. Invite your groupShare your invite link; scoring runs off live results. Optional tracking for buy-in tiers and weekly prizes is there if your group wants it.

Create your College Football Pick'em pool — free to set up. Payment is due only after your game has kicked off and you are certain ALA's software can provide you with everything you need.

Frequently asked questions

Can a college football pick'em pool use only Top 25 games?
Yes. The weekly slate can be scoped to Top 25 matchups, which uses the current AP rankings for that week. It is one of the cleanest ways to run a college pool without asking anyone to have an opinion on sixty games.
Can I restrict a pick'em pool to one conference?
Yes. A pool can be scoped to one or more conferences, so a Big Ten-only or SEC-only pool works without a commissioner having to hand-pick the slate every week.
Can I exclude FCS games?
Yes. Games against FCS opponents can be removed from the eligible slate, which keeps early-season weeks from filling up with foregone conclusions.
How are point spreads handled for college games?
A spread pool can either use static spreads that are set once they are first populated, or use LIVE spreads that move in concert with real-life odds -- in the latter case, entrants picks cannot be changed once made.
How does the pool handle Week 0?
College football's 'Week 0' typically includes a significantly smaller slate with only a handful of FBS teams in action. You can set your pool up to include Week 0, or kick it off when the majority of FBS play begins in Week 1.
